Patina x Farasha Farmhouse: From the Garden to the Kitchen

Patina x Farasha Farmhouse: From the Garden to the Kitchen

Our first collaboration with Farasha Farmhouse was made for the garden. For our second, we’ve taken that same hardwearing, sustainable approach into the kitchen.

Set just outside Marrakech, Farasha Farmhouse is a hotel and regenerative working farm built around food, craft and a more considered way of doing things. Produce grown on the farm feeds into its farm-to-table kitchen, while local materials, makers and traditional skills are woven throughout the wider project.

For our first project together, we designed workwear for Farasha’s gardening team. This time, we worked closely with their chefs to develop something for the other end of that journey: the Farasha Farmhouse Chef’s Apron.

The main body of each apron is constructed from reclaimed vintage workwear, taking hardwearing cotton canvas that has already had one life and giving it an entirely new purpose. The reclaimed nature of the fabric means subtle differences in colour, fading and wear make every apron slightly different from the next.

The design was developed around the needs of a working kitchen, with a slim pocket for tweezers and pens, additional utility storage for smaller essentials and a large lower pocket for cloths, utensils and everyday tools. Cotton webbing straps provide an adjustable fit, while Farasha’s signature butterfly is embroidered directly onto the reclaimed canvas.

One of the things we admire most about Farasha is their willingness to keep pushing what sustainability can mean in practice. Working with reclaimed materials comes with more challenges and more variation, but that individuality is a big part of what makes the finished product special.

These aprons are built to work hard and to last. Over time, the canvas will soften, fade and pick up the marks of everyday use, developing a natural patina unique to each wearer.

For us, that is exactly how workwear should be.
